MANILA, Philippines — To implement necessary improvements and upgrades in their terminal facilities, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) chairman Teofilo Guadiz III on Saturday issued a 60-day ultimatum to all bus companies.

“The improvements are imperative to ensure that the safety of passengers and their convenience should be the top priority of passenger bus and terminal operators,” Guadiz said.

Bus companies must conduct a self-assessment of their terminal facilities according to the required standards and submit a compliance plan within five days of the LTFRB resolution’s issuance.

“The compliance plan shall detail their existing gaps in facilities and services; specific upgrades and improvements to be undertaken; a timeline or schedule of implementation and staff training initiatives related to sanitation, customer service, safety and accessibility,” Guadiz added.

A final inspection and validation visit will be conducted by the LTFRB to verify compliance.

“Failure to comply would subject them to administrative sanctions or penalties,” the chairman warned.
