MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) postponed yesterday the implementation of the reduction in surge pricing for transport network vehicle services or TNVS.
The LTFRB granted the appeal of transport network companies (TNCs) to start imposing the cap on surge rate on Dec. 20 instead of yesterday.
LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza II said the agency gave TNCs more time to prepare for the fare adjustment.
The LTFRB has issued a memorandum circular, allowing the reduction of the surge pricing cap for TNVS amid complaints from passengers due to the “unreasonable fare increase by ride-hailing firms.”
The policy will be repealed on Jan. 4, 2026, the LTFRB said.
