LSE Generate, the London School of Economics' renowned entrepreneurship center, recently launched its first international cluster in Southeast Asia, focusing on the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia. The Philippines was also recognized as its 23rd international chapter.
The cluster's debut event was held at the Brittany Hotel in Taguig, bringing together innovators, corporate leaders, government officials and startup founders from across the region. Hosted by Vista Land, the gathering emphasized the Philippines' role as a growing hub for social innovation, with entrepreneurs addressing key issues like climate change, financial inclusion and community health. UK Deputy Ambassador Alistair White highlighted the global significance of the new chapter.
A panel discussion, "Innovating for the Betterment of Society," featured Maria Gaitanidou, Yohan Iddawela, LJ Silverman (Head of LSE Generate) and Anna Mae Lamentillo (Founder of NightOwlGPT). LSE Generate is now rolling out several initiatives, including educational outreach in local international schools in partnership with fintech unicorn OakNorth and a networking weekend on Boracay Island for founders and innovators.
Silverman reflected on the potential of Southeast Asia, while Lamentillo and Sen. Mark Villar praised the region's ability to drive sustainable growth and innovation. This launch marks the beginning of LSE Generate's plans to foster cross-border collaborations, contributing to a more dynamic and inclusive future for the region.
