Tropical Depression is set to traverse Visayas until Dec. 8 2025.

MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area east of Eastern Visayas intensified into a Tropical Depression Wilma on Thursday, prompting PAGASA to raise Signal No 1. in parts of Visayas and Mindanao.
Wilma currently has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph. It is currently headed west southwest, moving at a pace of 20 kph.
PAGASA has raised Signal No. 1 over the following areas, saying that they may experience wind speeds of up to 61 kph:
- Visayas: Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, and Southern Leyte
- Mindanao: Surigao del Norte including Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands and Dinagat Islands
PAGASA also warned of heavy rains due to the joint impact of Wilma and the shear line. From Thursday to Friday, Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorsogon may experience up to 200 mm of rain, while Masbate can experience 100 mm of rain.
Wilma is set to keep moving west. It will traverse Visayas until Monday, and then emerge over the Sulu Sea and pass over north Palawan.
PAGASA said that Wilma may intensify slightly but will likely remain as a tropical depression.
Areas outside of Wilma’s path may also experience strong, gale-force winds due to the northeast monsoon, these areas include: Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley Aurora, Bataan, CALABARZON, Mindoro Provinces, Romblon, Marinduque, Bicol Region and Visayas.
A gale warning is in effect across several coastal areas; PAGASA warned that the following areas will experience strong waves:
- Up to 5.5 metes: The northern and eastern seaboards of Catanduanes; the seaboard of Northern Samar.
- Up to 4.5 meters: The seaboards of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and Eastern Samar; the northern seaboard of Aurora; the eastern seaboards of Polillo Islands, Albay, and Sorsogon; the northern and eastern seaboards of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur.
- Up to 4.0 meters: The seaboard of northern mainland Quezon; the remaining seaboard of Aurora.
- Up to 3.5 meters: The seaboard of Ilocos Sur; the eastern seaboards of Dinagat Islands and Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands.
- Up to 3 meters: The seaboards of La Union, Pangasinan, and Surigao del Sur.
- Up to 2.5 meters: The seaboard of Pangasinan; the western seaboards of Bataan and Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island; the eastern seaboard of Davao Oriental.
- Up to 2 meters: The seaboards of northern Palawan including Cuyo Islands, Romblon, Aklan, and Antique; the northwestern seaboard of Masbate including Burias Islands; the western seaboard of Marinduque; the eastern seaboard of Oriental Mindoro.
