MANILA, Philippines — Starting Feb. 1, lotto ticket prices will increase by 25 percent, from P20 to P25, according to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
The price hike will raise the minimum jackpot prizes of Regular Lotto 6/42, Mega Lotto 6/45, Super Lotto 6/49, Grand Lotto 6/55 and Ultra Lotto 6/58, PCSO general manager Melquiades Robles said.
A minimum prize of P10 million will be set for 6/42, from P6 million, followed by P15 million (from P9 million) for 6/45, P25 million (from P16 million) for 6/49, P45 million (from P30 million) for 6/55 and P75 million (from P50 million) for 6/58.
Consolation prizes will also go up to a minimum of P1 million for the third prize, or bettors who guessed four of the six-digit winning combination.
Higher prizes are expected to drive lotto patrons to increase their participation and support for the PCSO’s charity fund-raising efforts, Robles said.
‘Urban poor champion’
Meanwhile, Robles has been conferred the “Champion of the Urban Poor” recognition by the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor.
PCUP chairperson Michelle Anne Gonzales presented the award to Robles at the PCSO central office in Mandaluyong on Jan. 19.
The recognition, granted under the Office of the President, cited Robles’ leadership in the PCSO and his commitment to uplifting urban poor communities through inclusive social services as well as expanded access to medical and social assistance.
