The ceremony will be held indoors for the first time since 1985
Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States at noon on January 20 in Washington (1 am on January 21 in Manila) to begin his second term in office, and an administration that he promised would be more grim and determined to “make America great again” with drastic policy shifts, from gender and racial diversity to border security.
For starters, Trump earlier announced that the ceremony would be held indoors, at the Capitol Rotunda, citing bitter cold conditions. The last time the inauguration was held indoors was for Ronald Reagan’s second term in 1985, for the same reason. Unless invited to the indoor event, spectators are to watch the ceremony live at the nearby Capital One Arena, where Trump held a campaign-style victory rally the previous night.
