Former president Rodrigo Duterte's senatorial candidates is a mix of old and new allies
MANILA, Philippines — A coalition of pro-Duterte senatorial candidates and their supporters gather at the historical Club Filipino in San Juan on Thursday, February 13, for the proclamation rally of former president Rodrigo Duterte’s 2025 Senate slate.
The jam-packed hall is the same place where, four decades ago, democracy icon Cory Aquino took her oath as president, as the dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr, the father and namesake of the current president, was ousted from Malacañang.
Duterte’s slate is a mix of former appointees, chief aides, PDP-Laban officials, and the former executive secretary of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
