MANILA, Philippines – The best in Philippine sports get their time to shine as the 11 nations in the region duke it out in the 33rd edition of the Southeast Asian Games.

Close to 1,200 athletes make up the country’s biggest delegation ever for the biennial showpiece hosted by Thailand for the seventh time, with the competition running from December 9 to 21 all around capital city Bangkok and nearby province Chonburi.

Team Philippines showcases a who’s who of international trailblazers, including Olympic weightlifting champion Hidilyn Diaz, top-ranked pole vaulter EJ Obiena, rising tennis star Alex Eala, and basketball standout Thirdy Ravena.

MANILA, Philippines – Two of the Philippines’ most recognizable sports icons in 2025 earned the honor of flying the country’s flag in this December’s Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand: tennis superstar Alex Eala and world-class volleyball great Bryan Bagunas.

“Popularity aside, Alex and Bryan have made impacts in the global sports community, and that makes them the best choice to carry the flag in the SEA Games,” said Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino.
