MANILA, Philippines — Filipino artistry and cultural pride will take center stage in Intramuros this week as new artisans, seasoned designers and LIKHA alumni gather for the fourth edition of “Likhaing Filipino” in celebration of the country’s Independence Day.

Organized by the office of First Lady Liza Marcos, “Likhaing Filipino” or LIKHA 4 will run from June 6 to 8 at the Foro de Intramuros along Anda Street in Intramuros.

Participants are expected to present a dynamic fusion of traditional techniques and modern innovations that reflect the richness and resilience of Filipino heritage.

“LIKHA is more than just a showcase; it’s a movement to empower local artisans and preserve Filipino heritage. This initiative hopes to inspire appreciation for the ingenuity and resilience of Filipino creativity,” the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said in a statement.

The government’s communications office also called on the public to support local talent and mark Independence Day “through creativity, collaboration and culture.”

“As a space for collaboration, LIKHA fosters growth and mentorship – connecting master craftsmen with emerging talents, and promoting sustainability in the local creative economy. As a platform, LIKHA remains a hub where stories, techniques and traditions are passed down to future generations,” it added.
