Pasay City Police Station
MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the license of an e-tricycle driver who figured in road crashes in Pasay.
The LTO said the rider was first involved in a hit-and-run accident before heading to a national road prohibited to e-bikes and e-trikes.
The suspect again figured in another hit-and-run incident.
Closed-circuit television footage of the incident made rounds online.
The driver’s license was suspended for 90 days while the e-trike was placed under alarm status pending outcome of the investigation.
LTO chief Markus Lacanilao reminded the public of the dangers of not driving safely.
The LTO has issued show-cause orders to the driver and registered owner of the vehicle.
They were ordered to attend a hearing at the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division.
The driver was also asked to submit a sworn statement explaining why he should not be charged with reckless driving and disregarding traffic signs.
