The Orchid family is the largest group of flowering plants, known for its striking beauty and undeniable allure. Since prehistoric times, orchids have captivated plant lovers with their elegance. But for many, that fascination turns fatal—at least for the orchids.

Countless plant enthusiasts have fallen into the cycle of buying orchids, unintentionally killing them, and then buying again—repeating the process over and over. It’s a botanical crime spree! Enter the serial orchid killers—gardeners with the best intentions but lacking the knowledge to keep their orchids alive.

To break this vicious cycle, the Philippine Orchid Society is hosting "An Orchid Extravaganza at Robinsons Magnolia," a 10-day orchid show from March 21 to March 30, 2025 at the Robinson’s Magnolia Central Garden from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.. Entrance is free.

The event will feature a stunning display of orchid hybrids and species, along with a daily lecture series designed to rehabilitate serial orchid killers (and prevent would-be offenders) by deepening their understanding of proper orchid care.

This is a far better alternative than sending an orchid killer to “plant jail!”

Visitors can also explore commercial booths offering orchids, ornamental plants, and gardening supplies. For event updates and more details, follow the Philippine Orchid Society’s official Facebook page. See you there—let’s save some orchids!
