MANILA, Philippines —  Earnings of state-run Land Bank of the Philippines (Landbank) grew by 24 percent to P43.98 billion last year, bolstering its capacity to extend affordable financing to priority sectors as lending to agriculture and rural communities continued to expand.

The lender’s earnings growth was anchored on higher interest income, which rose to P152.7 billion in 2025 on the back of improved loan yields and stronger fixed income returns from investments.

The performance came alongside steady balance sheet growth, with total assets climbing by three percent to an all time high of P3.52 trillion from P3.43 trillion in 2024. Total deposits likewise reached a record P3.11 trillion.

Landbank president and CEO Lynette Ortiz said the bank’s financial gains strengthen its ability to support sectors central to food security and rural development.

“Landbank’s strong financial performance allows us to do more of what we are mandated to do — extend affordable and accessible financing to Filipinos, especially to farmers, fishers and the entire agricultural value chain,” she said.

“By strengthening primary production and scaling value-adding activities, we promote food security and drive inclusive, sustainable growth,” Ortiz added.

As of end-2025, the state-run bank’s agriculture, fisheries and rural development loan portfolio reached P896.61 billion, accounting for 53.5 percent of its total gross loan book of P1.68 trillion.

The lender said this keeps it the country’s largest credit provider to agriculture and rural communities, underscoring its role in supporting long term productivity and resilience in the countryside.
