MANILA, Philippines — San Sebastian smothered Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-17, 25-16, 25-23, to force a three-way lead early in NCAA Season 100 women’s volleyball at the San Beda Gym yesteday.
Katherine Santos fired 13 points on 10 hits and three aces as the Lady Stags tied Perpetual and Letran on top of the 10-team standings with 2-0 slates.
She drew ample support from Divine Garcia, Kristine Dionisio and Christina Marasigan with nine, seven and six points, respectively, for the Lady Stags, who needed only 66 minutes to capture the easy triumph.
Elizza Alimen (7) was the lone bright spot for the Lady Generals, who absorbed their second loss in as many games.
In the other women’s game, Arellano tamed San Beda, 22-25, 25-9, 25-23, 25-18, for a breakthrough win behind Heart Villaflores’ 15 points.
Pauline de Guzman (14) and Samantha Tiratira (10) chipped in help as the Lady Chiefs (1-1) kept the Lady Spikers, led by Angel Habacon’s 21 points, winless at 0-2.
In the men’s division, EAC (2-0) stayed unbeaten by drubbing SSC-R (0-2), 26-24, 25-14, 23-25, 25-18, while San Beda (1-1), turned back Arellano (1-2), 18-25, 25-18, 25-19, 29-27.
