MANILA, Philippines — Talent agency Sublime is throwing support behind its artist, Korean star Nana, after a suspect who allegedly broke into the singer-actress' home filed a countersuit against her.
In November, Nana, whose real name is Jin-ah, and her mother, subdued a home intruder—reportedly a man in his 30s—who was later arrested and charged with aggravated robbery resulting in injury.
Both Nana and her mother received hospital treatment after suffering serious injuries and losing consciousness.
The suspect, however, was also injured, and later filed a countersuit accusing her of attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Authorities ruled was Nana acting in self-defense.
Agency sides with artist. Sublime released a statement following the countersuit, reiterating its support for Nana and citing authorities' confirmation of the suspect's criminal actions.
"During the crime, the assailant — armed with a weapon — inflicted severe harm on Nana and her family, and the resulting physical and psychological pain continues to this day," said the label.

The suspect, however, claims in his countersuit that he was unarmed during the incident and did not inflict injuries.
Sublime said the countersuit, filed “without any sign of remorse,” exploits Nana’s public profile and causes “secondary harm through inhumane conduct.”
It said its highest priority was protecting rights and interests of their artists, and that it will pursue all available civil and criminal legal remedies against the suspect.
"We will continue to respond responsibly and to the very end to ensure our artist suffers no further harm. Thank you," Sublime said.
Career background. Nana rose to prominence as part of Orange Caramel, a sub-unit of the girl group After School which debuted in 2009. The trio's music video for "Catallena" has more than 35 million views on YouTube.
She transitioned into acting, appearing in projects like "Kill It," "Mask Girl," "Justice," "The Swindlers," "Confession," "Memorials," "Oh My Ladylord," "Glitch," "The Good Wife," "My Man is Cupid," and most recently "Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy." — with reports from Agence France-Presse
