The EDSA people power Revolution of 1986 was never about a family feud between the Aquino's and the Marcoses. It might have started that way but it has a deeper meaning, as far as I'm concerned and to the millions of Filipinos who went there spent days sleeping and camping out around Camp Crame and Camp Aguinaldo. It's a battle for a basic idea of what form of government does the Filipino nation wants. Do we want a monarchy or do we want a republic? Marcos Sr. wants to crown himself king or Emperor and concentrated all powers of the government to himself, the executive, legislative and judiciary. The Filipino nation reject this idea because for so many the people wants a government of the people, by the people, for the people. The Philippines government powers comes from the people and it exist with the consent of the people with 3 separate branches of government, the executive, the legislative and the judiciary, checking and balancing each other to benefit the people.
