The Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) is set to give awards to writers for the Talaang Ginto: Makata ng Taon 2025.
KWF is calling on writers and institutions to submit works and be recognized for their contributions to Philippine literature.
There are six awards in total that the KWF will be doling out for the Talaang Ginto: Makata ng Taon 2025 awards:
1. Gawad Dangal ng Panitikan
A lifetime achievement award, the The Gawad Dangal ng Panitikan will be awarded to writers with unique ways of highlighting Filipino culture, character, heritage, and treasures. This will be given to those exceptionally proficient in Filipino and other regional or provincial languages.
2. Dula Tayo
“Dulâ Táyo: Pagsulat ng Dramatikong Monologo” meanwhile is an online contest sponsored by KWF for Buwan ng Panitikan. This is in solidarity with the celebration of the UNESCO International Decade of the Indigenous Languages 2022-2032, and the SDGs Manila ResiliArt EarthSaving Event under UNESCO patronage led by the International Theater Institute-Philippines Center.
3. Tula Tayo
Tula Tayo is an online competition with a specialization in folk poetry done.
For the 2025 competition, it is open to dalít, diyóna, and tanagà tribes who write in the Filipino language. The theme is, "Paglingon sa Panitikan ng Rehiyon sa Pagpapabulas ng Panitikan ng Nasyon" and/or the themes of Buwan ng Panitikan 2025.
4. Talaang Ginto
Talaang Ginto: Makata ng Taon is a contest focusing on poetry. It is a way to diversify and encourage new types of Filipino poetry. This award recognizes both veteran and rising talents.
5. Timpalak sa Tulang Senyas
The Timpalak sa Tulang Senyas is the first poetry competition through the use of sign language.
It aims to showcase Filipino Sign Language as a true language, promote Filipino Deaf culture through literature, and recognize and give platforms to the skills and talents of Deaf people. It is also a way for them to present their work and contribute to Filipino literature through signing.
6. Dulang Tandem/Duo
Dulang Tandem/Duo is a short play with one act, setting, and conflict that presents a clear story plot. The dialogue and storyline will feature only two characters.
The entry forms and complete submission guidelines are up on KWF’s Facebook page.
The use of the KWF Manwal sa Masinop na Pagsulat is encouraged to be used as a guide when submitting works.
The last day of submissions is February 7 at 5 p.m.
