MANILA, Philippines — OPM singer-songwriter Klarisse de Guzman came out as bisexual during Wednesday's episode of "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition."

De Guzman made the revelation during a task led by celebrity houseguest Michelle Dee, in which housemates were encouraged to open up about common misconceptions they face.

"I took a long time thinking about whether I should join Pinoy Big Brother because I didn't know if I could expose my personal life. At first, I actually said no. Can I really open up my life to people, to the public? Obviously, I'm here, so I can," she said.

"I think this is the time to tell you all and to tell the world... I'm not straight. I am bi [bisexual]. That's what I was referring to when I mentioned that I've had a partner for four years. Yes, I have a partner, and her name is Trina," she added.

The 33-year-old singer shared that her late father knew about her identity before he passed, and her mother has been supportive. Trina, her long-time partner, is currently with her mother while she remains inside the PBB house.

"I didn't expect that I would say it here. I don't know, I just suddenly had the courage to say it. The public didn't know, but my parents did. Before my father passed away, he knew, and my mother knows too. And the person who is with my mom right now is her. I guess I'm finally comfortable saying it to everyone — especially with Michelle Dee around, right? And I can't wait for you all to meet her. I miss her," she said.

While some of her relatives knew, de Guzman said she had not openly discussed her identity in her professional career as a singer until now.

"I'm just really lucky because my parents accepted me. I didn't have a hard time going through that phase. Some of my relatives also know. But as a celebrity, I never really talked about it in my work. Now, I am proud! Love wins," she said.

In support of de Guzman, her fellow housemates applauded and embraced her.

Later, she reflected on a musical performance they had inside the PBB house, sharing that the lyrics she sang held deep personal meaning.

Inside the confession room, Big Brother asked her what led to her decision to come out. De Guzman said she saw Dee as a sign to share her truth.

"I've been thinking for so long about when the right time would be to share my story with the people in this house. And actually, when I saw Michelle Dee, I thought, 'Is this a sign?'" she said.

"Until I learned about the task, and then I felt it in my heart that this was it — this is the moment. And I did it. I'm so proud and happy with myself that I'm finally out," she added.

Dee said she was glad her story gave others the courage to express themselves.

"Through my story, through my experiences, I was able to give someone the strength to come out. I was even happier when she said that she felt a huge relief — finally, after four years, she was able to do it," Dee said.

"She said that when she first saw me, she felt it was a sign from the universe that she would do it. That's exactly what I want — to create moments like this that validate all the years of hard work. As long as I can inspire even just one person, I can sleep well at night. It's truly heartwarming," she added.

Following the episode, de Guzman's girlfriend, whose real name is Christrina Rey, expressed her support in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

"I am proud of you @Klarissedguzman! I'm always here, always! I'll wait for you in the outside world. Love Wins," she wrote.

De Guzman first rose to fame as the first runner-up on the inaugural season of "The Voice of the Philippines" in 2013. She later won the third season of "Your Face Sounds Familiar" in 2021.

Dubbed the "Philippines' Soul Diva," she regularly performs on the ABS-CBN variety show "ASAP" and frequently serves as a judge on "It's Showtime's" "Tawag ng Tanghalan."
