MANILA, Philippines — Actress Kathryn Bernardo was back on familiar ground after a recent trip to Bhutan, the country she had shot scenes for "Princess and I" over a decade ago.

Kathryn recently shared on social media clips of her vacation to Bhutan, part of a birthday trip that also includded a visit to Thailand.

Videos for both trips were set to the travel trend popularized using Tate McRae's "Just Keep Watching."

Comments on the Bhutan video post were limited, but among those who express support for Kathryn were fellow actress Vina Morales and director Mae Cruz Alviar.

In the 2012-2013 series "Princess and I," Kathryn played Princess Areeyah "Mikay" Wangchuck of the fictional Kingdom of Yangdon which was inspired by Bhutan.

ABS-CBN actually shot in Bhutan for two weeks before continuing the rest of production in the Philippines, although visual effects had to be used for additional scenes intended to be set in Yangdon.

"Princess and I" was notably the first series of KathNiel, the love team of Kathryn and her ex-boyfriend Daniel Padilla, the latter playing Gino Dela Rosa

Also appearing in the show were Enrique Gil, Khalil Ramos, Albert Martinez, Gretchen Barretto, and Dominic Ochoa.

The previous Thailand trip caught the attention of many after photos circulated showing that Kathryn was accompanied by Lucena mayor and rumored boyfriend Mark Alcala.

Snippets of Kathryn's video even showed she was beside a person who had similar features to Alcala as depicted in the viral pictures.
