MANILA, Philippines — More cast members are announced for the upcoming Manila run of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," including multi-talented artist Karylle Tatlonghari-Yuzon.

The musical, making its Philippine debut, is based on the popular book by Roald Dahl where young Charlie Bucket wins one of five golden tickets guaranteeing him entry to the mysterious Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.

The magical and whimsical factory has everything from chocolate rivers and nut-sorting squirrels to mischievous Oompa-Loompas, all of which pop off on stage with toe-tapping music and larger-than-life characters.

Previously confirmed to star in the musical were young Cohen Toukatly as Charlie and Daniel Plimpton as Wonka. Both actors visited the Philippines last January upon the announcement of the production's arrival.

Joining them are Oliver T. Wong as Cohen's alternate, Steve McCoy as Grandpa Joe, Mychal Phillips as Grandma Josephine, and Michael Dalke as Grandpa George.

Karylle will be playing Charlie's mother, Mrs. Bucket. As her character, Karylle gets a few musical numbers, including "I've Got A Golden Ticket," which is originally from the 1971 film adaptation of Dahl's book.

Other songs from the movie that will feature in the musical are "Pure Imagination" and "The Candy Man."

Karylle is no stranger to the stage. She was part of the local productions for "The Sound of Music," "West Side Story," "Cinderella," "Rama, Hari," "Seussical," "Carousel," and most recently, "Little Shop of Horrors."

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" will run at the Theatre at Solaire from July 8 to 26, 2026.
