ANTIPOLO—Barangay Ginebra star Justin Brownlee was quick to give credit to Rain or Shine. And it’s not just about the fight their semifinal rival put up.
Brownlee believes that the lessons the Gin Kings picked up after being pushed by the Elasto painters to six grueling games will help them as they pursue the PBA Commissioner’s Cup crown.
“This series is definitely going to help with our intensity,” said Brownlee.

“Rain or Shine is a very intense team on both ends of the court. Dealing with their physicality definitely gave us a lot of challenges.”
The Gilas naturalized swingman put up 31 points and 15 rebounds, bucking Rain or Shine’s hard-nosed defense to lead Ginebra to a series-clinching 118-107 victory.
Brownlee felt the sense of urgency of the Painters, who tried—but failed—to drag the series to a decider.
“We beat them but it was tough. This may be the toughest and most physical series, I think, I’ve been a part of.”
“They’re just all-around tough, and they really elevated our game.”
