Actress Julia Barretto officially entered the beauty business with the launch of Bee Bee, her first collaboration with Viva Beauty.

The brand’s debut line features lip conditioners in four shades — Sweet Nectar, Beekeeper, Honey Drip, and Bee You. Each product is formulated with “BeeSpoke Tint” technology, which adapts to the wearer’s natural lip color, and “Bee Smooth” ingredients such as shea butter and ceramides for hydration.

“Bee Bee is my love letter to every Filipina. It’s about owning your beauty and embracing who you are,” Barretto said at the press conference.

Viva Beauty executive Sidney Rubio said Bee Bee was designed to reflect Barretto’s personality and values.

Bee Bee is about being true to yourself. So whether you’re soft, bold, real, or in between, it’s really vibing about who you are. Every beauty product should be effortlessly reliable and fun, just like what Julia is all about,” Rubio said.

Barretto, who took an active role in the development process, said she relied on personal preferences and family influence when finalizing the products.

“It’s actually very simple. I just love anything that’s nourishing for the lips. A lot of credit to my siblings, my sisters, because they really love lip balms. I became knowledgeable of them because of them,” she said.

She explained that the lip conditioners were designed to stand out from other products on the market.

“The lip conditioners that we have adjust to your natural pH. When I use it, it’s going to look different on my lips as opposed to other people’s lips. It can suit all skin tones. Very affordable, accessible, and really for everybody — even younger kids,” Barretto said.

Meanwhile, Barretto explained that the right name was also an important part of the creative process.

“I was always so drawn to the letters BB. I would dream about it. We originally tried a different name, but it didn’t work out. God is really good, though. He makes things work in our favor. Bee Bee just felt so right, and so me,” she said.

Sustainability was another key element for the actress. Rubio noted that Barretto was “very particular” about recyclable packaging and natural ingredients.

“She’s so much in love with nature. We all know that she likes the beach so much, and she likes really being able to ground herself with nature,” Rubio said.

Barretto said she is embracing her new role as entrepreneur with gratitude.

“This is my first time in the beauty industry, so I’m grateful for the trust. I’m so excited for what else is to come. The team really worked so hard. Of course, on my end, I really enjoyed the creative side, but the hard work — that’s all them,” she said.
