MANILA, Philippines – K-pop star Ju Haknyeon has come forward to deny the claims his agency ONE HUNDRED made against him after the latter announced his departure from THE BOYZ and the termination of his contract on Wednesday, June 18.
Haknyeon posted a brief handwritten letter on his Instagram story, denying the prostitution allegations that ignited his removal from the group and apologizing to the fans “who must have been greatly shocked by the news.”

The K-pop star explained that along with an acquaintance, he attended a private gathering that served alcohol in the early hours of May 30.
“While it is true that I was at that gathering, it is completely false that I engaged in any illegal activity, such as the prostitution that is being mentioned in news reports and rumors,” he wrote, according to a translation from Soompi.
“I am deeply reflecting on my actions, and I would like to sincerely apologize to everyone who was shocked by this [matter],” the K-pop idol added.
ONE HUNDRED earlier issued a statement expressing that it had immediately suspended Haknyeon’s activities with THE BOYZ and investigated the matter after hearing of the allegations being made against him.
The agency added that it finally came to the decision to remove Haknyeon from the group, and to terminate his contract, after finding that it could no longer “maintain the trust in him as an artist.”
“ONE HUNDRED will do our utmost to support the remaining members of THE BOYZ so that they can continue their activities in a stable and healthy environment,” the agency added, according to a translation from Soompi.
It also apologized for the concern the issue has caused to fans.
This comes just days after ONE HUNDRED announced on June 16 that Haknyeon would be suspending his activities with THE BOYZ for undisclosed personal reasons.
Ju Haknyeon first rose to fame in 2017 as a contestant on the second season of K-pop survival show Produce 101, ultimately falling short of debuting with Wanna One after only ranking 19th overall.
Shortly after, he debuted with THE BOYZ in December 2017, alongside members Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Sunwoo, Eric, and Hwall — who left the group in 2019.
Some of the group’s hits include “The Stealer,” “REVEAL,” “THRILL RIDE,” “No Air,” and “Salty,” among others.
Ju Haknyeon is also an actor, who appeared in the 2022 horror film Urban Myths. – Rappler.com
