MANILA, Philippines — Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla yesterday disowned a meme card circulating on social media showing him calling on the people to move on from the ghost flood control scandal.

“This circulating graphic is fake and misleading,” Remulla said in a message posted on the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)’s official Facebook page.

“Disinformation has consequences. It undermines public trust, distracts from urgent governance work and creates confusion when Filipinos deserve facts and verified information,” Remulla added.

The DILG warned the public that deliberate creation and circulation of false information may give rise to criminal liability and appropriate legal action under existing laws.

“We urge the public to rely only on official DILG channels and verified statements. Accuracy, responsibility and integrity are essential, especially in times when the nation needs clarity, not confusion,” Remulla said.
