Jerry Yan honored Barbie Hsu, his former 'Meteor Garden' onscreen partner and longtime friend
Jerry Yan recently paid respects to Barbie Hsu at her final resting place in New Taipei, Taiwan. According to a report by Next Apple News, a Taiwanese media outlet.
The Meteor Garden actor was accompanied by his friends, including one of Barbie's close friends during his visit to the cemetery last week. Barbie, best known for her role as Shan Cai in Meteor Garden, passed away in February due to pneumonia. She was 48.
Following the sudden passing of Barbie Hsu, her Meteor Garden co-star Jerry Yan took to Weibo to share a touching tribute for the late actress.
In his post, the Taiwanese actor expressed gratitude for having met Barbie, writing (translated into English via Google):
"Thankful for meeting you. In your carefree, childlike years, you always say, treat every day as your last. Have a great time. I hope you walk slowly this time. From now on, in another world, there will be no worries and the years will be peaceful."
Jerry famously portrayed Dao Ming Si, the charismatic leader of F4, in the 2001 hit Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden, where he was the love interest of Barbie's character Shan Cai.
He is also a member of the Taiwanese boy band F4, alongside Vic Chou, Ken Chu, and Vanness Wu, which was formed following the drama's massive success.
On February 2, 2025, Barbie's family and agent confirmed her passing, as reported by South China Morning Post and Focus Taiwan.
She is survived by her husband, South Korean musician DJ Koo, and her two children from a previous marriage with Wang Xiao Fei, from whom she divorced in 2021.
In July 2025, the F4, composed of Jerry, Ken, Vic Chou, and Vanness Wu, reunited at Mayday's 25th anniversary concert in Taiwan.
