Jairus Aquino welcomes more challenging role in his career

From children's fantasy series and youth-oriented shows, Jairus Aquino is ready to take on a more serious role in his career.

Fans saw him grow up on television since he starred in the defunct fantasy series Super Inggo (2006), along with Makisig Morales and Kathryn Bernardo.

Then, unlike other child actors who take a break as they become teens, Jairus remained visible by doing youth-oriented shows and joining some teleseryes.

This year, Jairus is set to show off more of his acting skills by playing the role of Bank in the local adaptation of the hit Thai movie and TV series Bad Genius. It previously aired on GMA in 2022. He will play alongside Atasha Muhlach, Gab Lagman, and Hyacinth Collado.

While he's the more experienced among the cast, Jairus admitted that he would still feel nervous about his new role.

“Sobra-sobra Sinasabi ko nga kay Direk [Derick Cabrido], even before we started hanggang ngayon, may kaba pa rin ako doing my role,” Jairus said during the show's cast reveal event held recently.

He continued, “Everybody loves challenge naman. Sabi nga ni Direk, maski siya. Ako, sobra kasi the usual material that I do is family drama. Yung last ko sobrang bigat din, so doing this and the university series is different material for me. Siyempre, dati yung teeny bopper na comedy, so iba siya.”

The university series that Jairus was referring to was an online adaptation of the Wattpad stories of Gwy Saludes.

Jairus further stressed, “Nandun pa rin yung challenge, nandun yung kaba. Siyempre, like what you said, everybody is expecting you to do great kasi being here for a while dapat talaga alam ko na yung ginagawa ko.”

Instead of worrying, the 25-year-old actor said, “Nandoon talaga yung pressure but, you know, I love the challenge and doon ako mas nai-inspire, e. So, I'll do my best and prove that I can do the job.”
