A couple of years ago, the internet lit up with mixed reactions when Ivana Alawi revealed their luxurious family house in Bahrain.
While many fans praised the actress for sharing a glimpse of her roots, others questioned the authenticity and calling it a scripted setup.
In her recent YouTube vlog, Ivana and her family finally addressed the backlash and cleared up the rumors once and for all. With a little help from a lie detector test, the actress took the chance to prove the truth.
"Alam mo, hindi ako ganoon kagaling gumawa ng istorya. Kwinento ko talaga kung saan kami lumaki," she said.
"The reason why we're selling it is because five years after renovation, wala nang nakatira, nabubulok lang 'yung bahay. Until now, every week may nag-o-open ng aircon twice a week."
Ivana then clarified that the property originally belonged to her father, and his name is even carved on the gate at his request. She added that while it holds sentimental value, she doesn't see herself returning to Bahrain permanently.
"Ang hirap ng maintenance and I don't see myself living in Bahrain. Either Amerika ako o Pilipinas," she added.
Her mother, Fatima Marbella, echoed the same sentiment and emphasized that selling the house was the most practical decision.
"Wala nang nakatira doon. Mabubulok, sayang, e," she said.
"Pero totoo po 'yung bahay namin na 'yun."
Ivana's family lived in Bahrain until her mother decided to return to the Philippines.
Despite the more difficult lifestyle back home, Ivana chose to follow her mom and start anew. Eventually, she was joined by her siblings who also decided not to return to their father's side.
