MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have identified the suspect who broke into the residence of "It's Showtime" host and Rocksteddy frontman Teddy Corpuz over the weekend.

CCTV footage obtained by Quezon City police show that Corpuz's home was broken into during the early hours of May 3, Sunday.

The suspect climbed up a balcony on the second floor and entered through a window, later leaving with a smart tablet, cash, and pieces of jewelry.

Corpuz and his family were asleep on the floor above. They learned about the burglary later in the morning. Authorities estimated the stolen items and money amounted to nearly P100,000.

On Thursday, May 7, Corpuz gave an update via a video on his social media accounts sharing that barangay officials came to the house to return the stolen tablet.

The thief's sibling reportedly surrendered the tablet to authorities after being told where the stolen item was hidden.

Corpuz expressed gratitude to the barangay officials and the purok leader who coordinated with his family and retrieved the tablet.

"Nabalik na 'yung iPad pero 'yung mga singsing hindi na nabalik, okay lang kasi mura lang sila, hindi naman totoo," the singer said. "Sana mahuli 'yung magnanakaw, at maging vigilant pa rin tayo."

Police have already identified the suspect and filed a case against him. The suspect reportedly was already charged with robbery and possession of illegal firearms back in 2018.

Authorities advised the public to be wary of burglars by installing CCTV cameras for proper monitoring and not publicize when a house might be empty.
