The Walled City of Intramuros, Manila, will be having its first-ever summer festival on April 26 with the Plaza Moriones in Fort Santiago serving as its home base.

Organized by the Intramuros Administration, the one-day festival is part of the agency’s 46th founding anniversary celebration.

The day-long shebang features various events across Intramuros culminating with a concert that evening.

If you are looking for something fun this weekend, head on to Intramuros and take part in its Summer Festival. Below are seven cool things to do there.

1. Zumba session

The summer festival will begin bright and early with a Zumba session from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. at the Plaza Moriones led by fitness coaches Jim and Toni Saret.

According to the administration, this wellness activity aims to foster health and wellness as well as to encourage an active lifestyle and social interactions.

The Zumba session is open to the public, and the good news is: It's free! If you're a morning person and a health buff, you know where to go.

2. Street parade

A fun and colorful P-pop-themed street parade will take place beginning 8 a.m. at the Plaza Moriones and will make its way all the way to Plaza San Luis Complex by 9am.

Led by a lively marching band, dance groups from schools in Intramuros will also join the excitement, performing to catchy P-pop songs by BINI, SB19, and more.

3. Get a free check up

Need a quick health check? The University of Santo Tomas Health Service will be offering free check-ups, health screenings, and basic dental care for everyone in the Intramuros community.

The medical mission will be held at Plaza Moriones from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. So, swing by and take care of your health!

4. Check out a Living Museum

Casa Manila on General Luna Street has always been a must-visit spot in Intramuros for showcasing how everyday life was like back in the day. It's a house complete with antique implements from the bedroom to the kitchen to the living room that visitors can roam around in — like a museum!

On Saturday, it brings it up one notch by presenting a living museum. As in: Actors in period costumes will move through the house, reenacting scenes from the past, and bringing to life the everyday living of affluent Filipino families of earlier times. Pretty cool huh?

The living museum will take place at 2pm and then again at 3pm at Casa Manila.

5. Storytelling sessions

Need respite from the unforgiving afternoon sun? Go to the Centro de Turismo Intramuros, where storytelling activities will take place at 2:30pm and then again at 3:30pm.

Located at the old San Ignacio Church, Centro de Turismo is an interactive museum with a stunning sculpture of renowned Filipino visual artist Leeroy New, old artifacts and religious icons. It only opened to the public last year.

6. Pop-up market

Calling all anik-anik collectors! Get ready to score some adorable finds at the pop-up market happening along General Luna Street, Fort Santiago, and the riverwalk.

Don’t miss out on all the cute collectibles waiting for you, made by our local artisans.

7. Sinag concert

The Intramuros Summer Festival will end on a high note with the Sinag concert at Plaza Moriones from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Enjoy a fun night of music featuring the iconic Itchyworms, along with rising OPM artists Over October and Earl Agustin.

There's only one way to get into the concert though: By availing of the Intramuros passport which costs P350 for regular individuals, and P280 for PWDs, Senior Citizens, students, and children under 11.

The Intramuros passport can be purchased and claimed at ticket booths at Intramuros Administration-managed sites or through an online application platform beginning April 26.
