MANILA, Philippines — An Interpol red notice has been issued against fugitive tycoon Atong Ang, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said.
Remulla revealed the information during a media interview on Thursday, April 16, saying that Ang remains in the country.
"He was spotted in Region 4-A two weeks ago. Nakita siya," Remulla said in a GMA News interview.

An Interpol red notice is a request to law enforcement agencies in Interpol-member countries to locate and arrest a person pending extradition, surrender or similar legal action. It is not, however, an international arrest warrant.
On April 9, Remulla first revealed that there was an "eyeball sighting" of Ang in the country. However, authorities were "too late" and did not catch him.
He initially did not disclose where Ang was spotted. In a media interview on Thursday, he revealed that he was seen in Calabarzon.
"Apparently, he travels in a small group. Parang tatlo lang sila. Palipat-lipat siya ng bahay every three days, four days, five days," Remulla said in a GMA News interview.

It could be recalled that when the first warrant of arrest was issued against the tycoon, one of the areas that the authorities searched was his game farm in Lipa City, Batangas.
Philstar.com has reached out to Ang's lawyer, Gabriel Villareal, for a comment regarding the tycoon's red notice, but he has yet to reply.
On April 7, Remulla said the government was confirming whether Ang was in Vietnam. It was initially speculated that he was in Cambodia.
Ang has been a fugitive since arrest warrants were issued by Region IV-A courts in early 2024, leading the government to place a P20-million bounty on his head.
He is a primary suspect in the 2021 disappearance of the missing sabungeros.
Charges against him include charges of kidnapping with homicide, alongside kidnapping and serious illegal detention.
