The Netherlands is among the countries you may visit when you successfully acquire a Schengen visa.
A Schengen visa is valid in European Union countries (except Cyprus and Ireland), as well as a few non-EU member states like Iceland, Norway, and Switzerland.
If you’re among those looking to visit the Netherlands for your next European adventure, here are the requirements you need to prepare for your Schengen visa application as a Philippine passport holder:
- Passport: First on the list is a passport. It must be valid for at least three months after the intended stay or departure date from the Netherlands, with at least two unused or blank visa pages.
- Fully completed Schengen visa application form: For a stay in Schengen of up to 90 days within a 180-day period, you may complete the application form for a Short-Stay Schengen visa online via https://consular.mfaservices.nl/schengen-visa/short-stay.
- Cover letter: Original cover letter signed by the applicant stating the name, passport number, and duration of visit.
- Two recent passport-size photographs: Your photos must not be older than six months.
- Roundtrip flight reservation and hotel booking confirmation: It's recommended not to purchase a flight ticket until your Schengen visa is granted.
- Copies of passport bio-data pages.
- Photocopy of the full itinerary.
- Proof of ties in the Philippines: This can be proof of social security contributions, a copy of real estate property, or proof of family ties such as a marriage certificate or birth certificate of children issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority.
- Proof of occupation: If you are employed, this includes a certificate of employment, leave absence form, and latest income tax return.
- Proof of financial means: This includes a recent bank statement, original bank certificates, bank books, credit card statements, or balance covering the last three months.
- Photocopy of travel medical insurance: Proof of travel medical insurance that covers the whole period of your stay and must be valid for the entire Schengen area.
All documents must not be stapled together and must be submitted in A4 format/paper size.
Once you complete all the requirements, you may submit your files to the Embassy of the Netherlands in Manila, located at 26/F BDO Equitable Tower in Makati City. The visa fee is priced at €90 or P5,629.65 as of this writing’s foreign exchange rate.
If you opt to submit your Schengen visa application via an external service provider, a convenience fee may apply depending on your chosen travel agency.
The processing time for applications usually spans 15 days. Your visa application may exceed this period if your application needs further consideration, you are required to submit additional documents, or your application is affected by high volume.
