WHEN the Philippine Airlines (PAL) Interclub returns to Bacolod next month, it will mark a poignant moment as the last event held there preceded the Covid-19 lockdowns that brought sports to a standstill.
Less than a week after Manila Southwoods and Canlubang claimed the Men's Regular and Seniors titles, the world entered a prolonged pandemic-induced pause.
From Feb. 7 to 21, the 76th Interclub will unfold at Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club and Bacolod Golf and Country Club, where Southwoods aims for a fourth consecutive crown and Del Monte seeks to defend its surprise win from last year.
"Bacolod has hosted many memorable Interclub championships, and we anticipate the same competitive spirit this year," said PAL President Stanley Ng. "As we return to the City of Smiles, let us celebrate the triumph of the human spirit and the sport we love."
Known as the country's unofficial team golf championship, the Interclub was on hiatus for two years before resuming in 2023 in Cebu.
