MANILA, Philippines — Four years into the Marcos administration, reducing the cost of basic commodities and fighting graft and corruption remain the most urgent national concerns of Filipinos, according to a survey conducted by Pulse Asia.
The June 28 to July 3 survey found 57 percent of the respondents selected controlling inflation as among their most urgent national concern.
Forty percent selected fighting graft and corruption, including
holding corrupt government officials accountable, while 36 percent said their most urgent concern is the increase in pay of workers.
The same issues were the three most urgent national concerns in the previous survey conducted in March 2026.
The respondents were allowed to select up to three issues.
Based on the latest poll, controlling inflation was the most urgent concern across areas.
It was highest among those in the Visayas at 65 percent, followed by those in the rest of Luzon at 57 percent, Metro Manila at 55 percent and Mindanao at 50 percent.
Other top issues included in the survey were reducing poverty (26 percent), fighting criminality (22 percent), fighting the widespread sale and use of illegal drugs (19 percent), creating more jobs (15 percent), lowering the price of gasoline (13 percent), promoting peace (11 percent), addressing hunger (11 percent) and equal enforcement of the law (11 percent).
Selected by less than 10 percent of the respondents were issues such as providing assistance to farmers, reducing taxes, stopping the destruction of the environment, providing support to small businesses, responding to needs of areas affected by calamities, defending the integrity of Philippine territory, protecting overseas workers and preparing to face any kind of terrorism.
The survey had 2,400 respondents and a margin of error of plus or minus two percent.
