The band's decision follows allegations of sexual harassment of one if its former band members Emmanuel (Ean) Aguila.

In an official statement, the band and its remaining members — Debb Acebu, Paolo Arciga, Miggy Abesamis and Kathy Gener — said, "This January, past allegations towards Ean resurfaced with new information, which has significantly affected the band and the members. Let it be known that we strongly do not condone his behavior, and we urged him to take full responsibility for his actions."

"He made a statement and eventually decided to quit the band. We support this decision, and we sincerely hope for the healing of all parties involved," the statement continued.

In closing, the remaining members decided not to continue as a band.

"This is the end for Ang Bandang Shirley. We thank you for all your support and for listening to our music throughout the years," they added.

Founded in 2003 by Owel Alvero and Aguila, Ang Bandang Shirley became a staple in the Filipino indie music scene. Their songs were featured in several notable independent films including "Endo," "Ang Nawawala (What Isn't There)," and "I'm Drunk, I Love You."

They released three full albums — "Themesongs" (2008), "Tama Na Ang Drama" (2012), and "Favorite" (2017).
