It has been just over two weeks since Donald Trump returned to the White House, and yet it is no exaggeration to say that the United States is a different place.

As journalist Dahlia Lithwick puts it, he has brought change “with frightening speed and recklessness.”

But is it possible to discern which change is mere distraction and which is truly destructive to democracy — not only in the US but around the world?

In this episode of In The Public Square, Rappler columnist and editorial consultant John Nery is joined by Ruben Carranza, a lawyer and a senior expert from the International Center for Transitional Justice. Carranza is also a former professor at University of the Philippines College of Law, assistant secretary of national defense, and PCGG commissioner.
