MANILA, Philippines — Actress and social media personality Ivana Alawi submitted to a lie detector test in a recent YouTube vlog amid rumors of an illicit affair with Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez, the Bacolod City mayor and incoming representative.

In the vlog, Ivana answered several controversial questions, including one where her sister, Mona, asked, “Ikaw ba ay nanira ng pamilya? (Have you ever broken up a family?)”

Ivana  responded with a firm “No,” and the polygraph examiner verified that she’s telling the truth.

“Hindi ako pinalaking manira ng pamilya (I was not raised to become a home-wrecker),” Ivana added, further explaining that since she comes from a broken family herself, she knows the pain firsthand. 

Back in February 2024, Ivana got tagged as the mistress of Benitez following a viral post that spotted them together in an airport in Japan. 

The mayor’s wife, Dominique “Nikki” Lopez-Benitez, filed a complaint over a year later, claiming her husband had committed marital infidelity. 

Lopez-Benitez accused the mayor of violating the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act, citing a series of emotional, psychological, and economic abuses in the 25-page document filed at the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office on April 11.

The actress-influencer and the Bacolod mayor had denied the allegations, with Benitez’s camp claiming that the rumored affair was part of a “demolition job” against him, as it also coincided with rumors that he was being considered to replace House Speaker Martin Romualdez. 

Before the vlog, Ivana last addressed the controversy in a Facebook post in February 2024, saying she first met the mayor when she had work in Bacolod and he was “accommodating and friendly” like the other politicians she met, but denied being Benitez’s girlfriend. – Rappler.com
