MANILA, Philippines — The technical working group on asset recovery has not met since the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) was dismantled on March 31, Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center Undersecretary Renato Paraiso said.
Established by President Marcos through Executive Order 94, the ICI served as an investigative task force reviewing alleged corruption, anomalies and ghost projects in government flood control and infrastructure initiatives.
Paraiso said the Department of Justice and the Office of the Ombudsman can call a meeting of the technical working group anytime, adding that the group’s work would not be affected even if the ICI had already been dissolved.
The group had frozen P24.8 billion in assets.
