MANILA, Philippines — Content creator Bretman Rock has finally spilled the tea on where his dislike for actress and fellow Filipino-American Vanessa Hudgens originates from.

Bretman appeared on 2025's penultimate episode of the Sweet or Savory Podcast hosted by Filipino-American couple AJ Rafael and Alyssa Navarro where toward the hour mark, AJ asked Bretman for his most disappointing celebrity encounter.

At first Bretman played coy by first only mentioning "VH," but after pointing out there aren't many with those initials so he flat out name-dropped Vannesa.

Asked by AJ where it stems from, Bretman shared having come across the actress during a pre-pandemic edition of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival as both of them were there as guests of a vegan gummy vitamin brand.

The brand's guests had to pick up their tickets ahead of the festival so when Bretman arrived to get his, he saw Vanessa chatting with the brand's chief executive officer whom Bretman was friendly with.

"I was trying to get his attention and waving, not at her, and she looks at me and tries to hide," said the irked Bretman. "First of all, I'm not saying 'hi' to you. I was always Team Sharpay. Let's just get that out of the way."

The content creator was referencing the years-long pop culture feud between "High School Musical" characters Sharpay Evans (played by Ashley Tisdale) and Vanessa's Gabriella Montez.

"Second of all, b***h you're not even Mexican... and third of all, b***h I am not a fan," Bretman continued, adding that Vanessa even got her companion to stand in front of her to block his view.

Bretman even questioned the public previously handing her the "Coachella Queen" title, "I just don't give a f***. I still don't give a f***.

He pointed out both of them were there for the same reason, getting the same kind of passes, and reiterated he was not a fan of hers.

The content creator also said he was not the type to ask celebrities for photos, only in secret, as it's not in his nature.

"Girl, you're not above me, I'm not under you. I'm Filipino b***h and you can't even like your own people?" Bretman ended.

Last August 2023, Bretman threw shade at Vanessa a visit to Palawan when he clocked her for being unable to pronounce the province properly. That was in lieu of Vanessa being tapped as a tourism ambassador for the Philippines.

Later that year he took a dig at Vanessa again during the United States premiere of "A Very Good Girl" as Bretman pretended not to know who she was. — Video from the Sweet or Savory Podcast's YouTube channel
