Holy Week is arguably the most important time for Roman Catholics. It begins on Palm Sunday and culminates in Easter Sunday, celebrating Jesus' resurrection. This year, the observance of Holy Week begins on April 13 to April 20.
In the Philippines, the Catholic faithful commemorate this sacred week by praying, reflecting, by penitence, or by doing a panata. Among those practices is praying the Way of the Cross or Stations of the Cross, typically done in hand with Visita Iglesia, where each church represent a station of the cross.
There are 14 stations in total, depicting Jesus Christ's journey to his crucifixion and death.
