MANILA, Philippines — It may have taken a while, but British actor Tom Holland is finally going to get his dinner date with Norwegian football star Erling Haaland.

Holland appeared on the July 14, 2026 episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" to promote his newest film "The Odyssey," plus briefly his next movie "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."

Before discussing his latest project, Fallon brought up the World Cup which was in its final stages at the time of recording, and Holland gushed about England's performance after defeating Norway.

Fallon inquired whether it was true that Holland sent a message to the Manchester City striker asking to hang out, but Haaland didn't respond because he doesn't watch movies and thought Holland was some random person.

The "Spider-Man" star confirmed that happened and called it "the type of humbling experience important for actors," a small reference to Haaland's viral quote "stay humble."

The backstory was Holland spotted Haaland in Monaco while watching fellow Brit Lewis Hamilton race in Formula One and thought he'd "shoot his shot."

Holland added that Haaland might not want to have dinner with him now since Norway lost to England, ending that portion by calling the striker "incredible" and "an absolute legend."

The actor need not fear as a clip of the interview was posted on the show's Instagram account and Haaland took notice, finally.

"Dinner invitation accepted, Tom. A little late. Just name the place!" Haaland said in a comment that has now earned over 450,000 likes.

Norway's historic quarterfinal exit means Haaland now shifts his focus to the upcoming regular season with Manchester City under new coach Enzo Maresca.

Meanwhile Holland will continue promotions for "The Odyssey" and "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," which both coincidentally star his wife Zendaya and Jon Bernthal.
