MANILA, Philippines — Social media users are cheering and congratulating veteran actress Susan Africa after landing a new role.

Susan is part of the cast of ABS-CBN's latest action-drama series "Blood vs Duty," starring Richard Gutierrez and Gerald Anderson.

Fans are praising the actress’ new character in the series, noting that she is no longer playing an "ubuhin" mother.

The veteran actress will portray a doctor in the series, while also playing the mother of Richard's character.

This marks a departure from her previous roles, including another "mahirap level" character she portrayed in the recently concluded ABS-CBN action series "FPJ's Batang Quiapo," starring Coco Martin.

During the press conference for the Kapamilya series, MJ Felipe jokingly asked Susan if her role was "ubuhin" again.

"Maraming salamat sa suporta at patuloy na panonood. And yes, wala po akong ubo bilang Dra. Teresa Reyes," Susan answered.

Social media users shared comments online, including “Kaya nyo na po gamutin sarili nyo pag inuubo na po kayo.”

“Doktor na siya ng mga inuubo.”

“Happy for you Ms. Susan nag level up na role mo, hind na mahirap, katulong o binubugbog lagi ng asawa.”

Susan first made her mark on viewers with her role as "Susan" in the iconic 1990s soap opera "Mara Clara," starring Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes.

The drama is a welcome breather for Susan, who has long been typecast as a sickly mother or house helper.
