Higher income country status

In a recent business forum attended by local and foreign business executives, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said the Philippines is close to reaching upper middle-income country (UMIC) status this year. Recall that a similar forecast was earlier made by then Socioeconomic Development Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, which he projected to happen by 2026 or late 2025
