Hariphil Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai trucks and buses in the country, reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by unveiling its first lineup of electric commercial vehicles (ECVs).
During the Hyundai Truck and Bus Mobility EV-olution Expo on Friday, May 2, HARI launched three ECVs that can provide businesses with future-forward options, while charting the path for a future-ready transportation system.
First, the Hyundai Mighty Electric, a light-duty electric truck powered by a 120-kilowatt (kW) permanent magnet synchronous motor that can produce up to 32.6 kilogram-meter (kg-m) of torque.
With a 114.5-kilowatt-hour (kWh) lithium-ion battery, the vehicle offers an all-electric range of 260 kilometers (km). Charging is described to efficient, given its 100-kW direct current (DC) charger providing a full charge in just 71 minutes.
HARI said the Mighty Electric is specifically engineered for the “modern businessman” as it can driver up to nine-percent lower maintenance costs over 100,000 km or five years in operation.
“With no fuel system, reduced mechanical complexities, and minimal fluid change requirements, it streamlines operations for maximum efficiency,” it said.
Meanwhile, the Hyundai County Electric marks the South Korean brand’s first 100-percent electric minibus.
With its 150-kW motor, the vehicle promises to deliver 40.3 kg-m of torque and a range of 303 km per full charge.
Equipped with a 128-kWh lithium-ion battery and a 72-minute charging time, HARI said the Country Electric signifies the future of transportation that is “clean, quiet, and comfortable.”
“It’s an ideal choice for schools, shuttles, tourism groups, and corporate fleets seeking to modernize and reduce their carbon footprints while offering a smoother, more comfortable ride,” the company said.
Lastly, it introduced the HARI Cab, a locally assembled internal combustion engine (ICE) commercial vehicle tailored for the Filipino appetite.
Powered by a Euro 4 D4CC diesel engine, it offers 160 ps at 3,000 rpm (revolutions per minute) and a maximum torque of 40 kg-m at 1,250 to 2,800 rpm.
The HARI Cab consists of 2,891-cubic centimeter (cc) displacement, a 100-liter fuel tank, and a 14-feet deck, which collectively offers optimum capacity, great flexibility, and fuel efficiency.
“The HARI Cab symbolizes the modern Juan Dela Cruz—resilient, driven, full of grit, and open to innovation,” said HARI President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Maria Fe Perez-Agudo.
The three newly launched vehicles, according to Agudo, are “purposely selected” to cultivate Filipino businesses to tackle future challenges head-on.
“We are moving toward smart cities, so HARI must evolve to keep pace with the market and remain a relevant partner in every way of Philippine entrepreneurs,” she said.
While admitting that consumers adopting electric vehicles (EVs) in the commercial vehicle industry could take more time, Agudo said the foundations for its utilization are already being laid.
She said new financing models—including leasing, subscription services, and government-backed loan programs—are addressing financial barriers, empowering consumers to embrace EVs as practical alternatives.
However, to address concerns and hesitancy around electrification, she said the government can step in to encourage Filipinos to shift to EVs.
Agudo noted that the government may consider tax incentives for consumers and manufacturers, reducing costs associated with EV adoption, promoting local EV production, and expanding a network of charging stations.
