MANILA, Philippines — Host-actress Kris Aquino is preparing for a small return to showbiz after steadily recovering from illness over the holiday season.
"The Queen of All Media" posted on her Instagram account a video of her giving brief health updates while opening product gifts.
At one point Kris showed off the engagement ring that belonged to her mother, the late president Corazon "Cory" Aquino, and would one day bequeath to her youngest son Bimb.
Kris — looking healthier and more talkative than in past months — also recounted asking the ring from Cory, who obliged but only if Kris would buy another engagement ring for her brother Noynoy should he finally settle down himself.
Noynoy, who also served as president, passed away in June 2021 from renal disease, secondary to diabetes.
In the video's caption, Kris said she would be discharged in a couple days' time after being hospitalized for close to two months.
"I've learned which moments to treasure and that love and friendship need to be reciprocal if you want them to last. Walang perfect na relationship but if you are willing to live with and learn to laugh at each other's quirks then you have a chance to go the distance. And remember to fight fair, nobody should play the victim not if you truly love one another."
Kris even shared she messages her closest friends on WhatsApp to talk or call for a few minutes though her health remains the top priority.
The host-actress inquired about indoor swimming pools in physical rehabilitation centers, hotels with health club memberships, or leasable spaces in central Metro Manila within distance of major hospitals, as light swimming was advised be part of her recovery.
"This is my life's new reality. But in order for me to continue being brave, I need to do slowly what I love until I am stronger," Kris explained.
She then shared her goal of conducting sit-down interviews once a week with "people who for me are interesting" and "weekly enjoyable treatment of products" she uses.
This as she already has a hair and makeup team, a skeleton crew, a two-camera set-up, and shots for close-ups.
"I'm excited to start sharing new home cooking recipes made simpler with all of you. Happy viewing," Kris ended her caption with hashtags of "Brave" and her iconic saying "love, love, love."
In the video proper, Kris requested not to be given flowers for her birthday next month because of the risk of allergies, instead asked for an arc of balloons to celebrate a "rainbow year" following months of personally difficult challenges.
Toward the end, with older son Josh joining her and Bimb, Kris teased Bimb for possibly having someone else in his life to kiss now, which Bimb humorously dismissed.
