MANILA, Philippines — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Sunday, August 3, that the death toll from the southwest monsoon (“habagat”) and tropical cyclones Crising (Wipha), Dante (Francisco) and Emong (Co-May) has climbed to 38.

In the latest NDRRMC report, 35 deaths are pending validation, while three have been confirmed. There are also 33 reported injuries and eight missing persons.

Of the reported injuries, 24 have been confirmed and nine are pending validation. Additionally, eight people remain missing, four confirmed and four awaiting validation.

The inclement weather affected 8,592,630 individuals from 2,365,343 families.

Of those affected, 91,906 people from 24,771 families sought refuge in 839 evacuation centers, while another 123,624 individuals from 32,320 families took shelter outside evacuation centers.

The estimated damage to infrastructure totaled P13,957,967,538.52, impacting Region 1, Region 2, CAR, Region 3, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Region 5, Region 6, Negros Island Region, Region 10 and Region 12.

Across the affected areas, a total of 73,015 houses were reported damaged, with 64,558 partially damaged and 8,457 completely destroyed.

Meanwhile, production losses from agricultural damage are estimated at P3,277,533,297.68

A total of 254 cities and municipalities declared a state of calamity, with the majority located in Region 1 with 41 cities and municipalities, and Region 3 with 47 cities and municipalities.
