MANILA, Philippines — The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) posted higher earnings in 2025, with total income rising to P344.47 billion as the state pension fund continued to expand its asset base and increase benefit payouts to members.

Data released by the agency showed total income grew by 6.4 percent from 2024, supported by stronger insurance revenues and investment returns.

The higher income came as GSIS assets climbed by 8.2 percent to P1.96 trillion, bringing the fund close to the P2-trillion threshold.

GSIS president and general manager Wick Veloso said the results reflected prudent financial stewardship and disciplined fund management.

“Every peso in this fund belongs to a government worker who expects it to be there when they retire or when their family needs it,” Veloso said. “In 2025, we paid out more in benefits than the year before, while growing our assets by over P148 billion.”

Social insurance operations remained the main earnings driver, contributing P212.17 billion to total revenues. Meanwhile, general insurance premium income rose by 10.8 percent to P11.39 billion, fueled by higher new and renewal policy issuances.

Investment income from financial assets reached P76.55 billion, helping strengthen the fund’s capacity to meet long-term pension obligations. Net income from operations stood at P137.74 billion.

Despite the increase in earnings, GSIS also ramped up disbursements, releasing P194 billion in claims and benefits in 2025 as part of its mandate to provide social protection for government workers and retirees.

The latest figures show that income growth and investment returns continued to support the fund’s financial position even as benefit payments increased, helping sustain GSIS’ long-term pension commitments.
