MANILA, Philippines — The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has launched its “Balik Ginhawa” program, offering immediate cash refunds to qualified members and pensioners as part of a three-month loan relief measure.

Under the program, eligible members can get a refund equivalent to three months of loan payments, which may reach up to P111,000 in a lump sum. The actual amount, however, depends on individual loan records, meaning some may receive only one or two months’ worth of payments.

The program is expected to benefit over 3.2 million members and pensioners, with around P19 billion earmarked for refunds. Currently, the relief covers non-housing loans while details on housing loans are still being finalized.

Applicants can conveniently apply through the GSIS Touch mobile app, making it easy to access the benefit anytime, anywhere, without needing to visit GSIS offices.

GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said the initiative supports the government’s directive to ease the financial burden on public servants.

“We are fully aligned with the President’s directive to ease the burden on our government workers," Veloso said.

“Through the Balik Ginhawa program, GSIS is ready to provide immediate and meaningful financial relief to our members when they need it most,” he added.

The agency said the program aims to give fast, simple and meaningful financial assistance that members can immediately use for daily expenses.
