MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced on Tuesday free rides for commuters of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Metro Rail Transit (MRT) on April 30 and May 3.
"I want to tell all our commuters that I have ordered, as a little reward to workers and in line with the Labor Day celebration, for rides on MRT 3 and LRT 1 and 2 to be free," Marcos said in Filipino in a video statement.
"This is from April 30 to May 3. This is a small recognition of the sacrifice and the contribution of our workers not only to our economy but to our society. Happy Labor Day," he added.
Malacañang noted that the free rides would be all day and open to all.
