MANILA, Philippines — Digital lender GoTyme Bank has reached seven million customers as of end-July, reflecting the strong momentum of its inclusive and tech-driven approach to banking.

“We hit seven million customers today. That’s official as of July 31,” GoTyme president and CEO Nate Clarke said. “We reached our five-million target last year, and this year we’d like to get close to nine million.”

The digital bank, a partnership between the Gokongwei Group and Singapore’s Tyme Group, also logged P32 billion in deposits and over P5 billion in loans as of July 31, Clarke said.

The bank has been focused on expanding access to digital financial services by streamlining onboarding processes and embedding banking in consumers’ daily activities, particularly through retail channels such as Robinsons Supermarket, The Marketplace and Southstar Drug.

GoTyme Bank co-CEO Albert Tinio said the digital lender continues to “track very well” toward hitting its nine-million user goal.

“It goes back to banking made beautiful,” Tinio said. “We just make it simple for people to onboard, simple for people to use. It’s where it’s convenient and that makes sense for them,” Tinio said.

Despite the surge in deposits, the digital bank acknowledged that lending is still playing catch-up.

“Given that we have P32 billion in deposits and only P5 billion in loans, we need to give out. What we want to see is take up,” Tinio said.

GoTyme offers a suite of financial products including high-interest savings accounts, term deposits and personal loans. The bank has also leaned heavily on data science and behavioral analytics to manage credit risk and personalize offerings.

Last week, GoTyme announced its partnership with TikTok Shop to launch a new lending program aimed at empowering Filipino entrepreneurs by providing fast and flexible business loans based on their performance on the popular e-commerce platform.

Under the new initiative called TikTok Shop Loans powered by GoTyme Bank, pre-qualified micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) can access customized loans within minutes, with disbursement completed in as fast as one business day.

Loan amounts and terms are tailored using real-time transaction data from sellers’ TikTok Shop activity, with repayment available via bank transfer or QRPh in manageable monthly installments.
