SEN. Bong Go, known as "Mr. Malasakit," personally assisted over a thousand indigent individuals and micro-entrepreneurs in Bacolor, Pampanga on Tuesday.
Due to the combined efforts of Go and local leaders such as Mayor Datu Diman and Vice Mayor Ron Dungca, vital support and government programs were offered to the selected beneficiaries assembled at the Bacolor Municipal Gymnasium.
With Go's backing, the local government distributed 50 kilograms of rice to each of the 1,200 identified indigent individuals.
Meanwhile, 200 qualified micro-entrepreneurs were given livelihood packages through the Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) program, a livelihood support initiative that Senator Go has championed since its inception.
These included negosyo carts, bigasan, karinderya packages, and hydroponics materials to help sustain and expand their small businesses.
All beneficiaries also received essential aid from Senator Go, such as snacks, shirts, and food packs, while selected individuals were provided with bicycles, shoes, fans, mobile phones and watches.
In his message, Senator Go highlighted the importance of solidarity and compassion in addressing many Filipinos' challenges.
"Someone approached me earlier, thanking me. In truth, we should be thanking you because you allowed us to serve you," he said in Filipino.
"What is important is that we help those in need, our hopeless and helpless countrymen," he added.
Diman, meanwhile, expressed his gratitude to the senator for his unwavering support and dedication to uplifting the people of Bacolor.
Before concluding his visit, the senator reaffirmed his dedication to public service.
"I will continue to serve you because it is my habit to serve. You are my inspiration in fulfilling my duty. Thank you very much," he said.
