MANILA, Philippines — Globe Telecom Inc. is close to completely adopting artificial intelligence (AI) across its business units, signaling the telco’s readiness to an automated future.

In a statement, Globe said it has reached 90-percent adoption of AI tool Gemini for Workspace, as it works on simplifying redundant processes for ease of operations.

This means Gemini, built by tech giant Google, is now being used by Globe across business units as a productivity tool, from quality assurance to custom needs.

Globe chief AI officer and chief information security officer Anton Bonifacio said the telco aims to democratize AI by introducing it on different corporate layers. He noted that Globe is viewing AI adoption not as a top-down mandate, but an empowerment tool for daily work.

He said 55 percent of companies worldwide have reported any level of AI integration.

As such, Globe is on track to stay above benchmark at the rate of its AI efforts.

“Reaching 90-percent adoption for Gemini for Workspace shows our people are not just curious about AI, as they are actively using it to improve how they work every day,” Bonifacio said.

“Our goal has always been to make AI practical and valuable (since) we want every team to feel empowered to experiment, build and turn ideas into real progress,” he added.

Recently, Globe teamed up with Google in conducting a workshop on the agentic use of AI to showcase the various ways that employees can maximize Gemini for Workspace.

Likewise, the telco partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to hold a workshop centered on agentic AI. AWS, a long-time cloud partner of Globe, trained teams on how to design AI patterns that can perform tasks on their behalf.

Gemini for Workspace is one of Google’s core products in the AI space, combining various sets of productivity tools for everyday use.

For instance, the solution can make audio overviews and visual aids from business files inputted by a client.

Moreover, Gemini for Workspace is capable of analyzing data and generating insights, providing clients with quick assessments of deliverables and outputs.

Google, for its part, promises that Gemini for Workspace protects sensitive data, and information shared with the platform will never be used to train AI models.
